It has been a while since I have been compelled to blog about something that didn't involve Aubrey. I am sure by the end of this blog I will have blogged about him to, but that isn't the reason behind this blog.
I believe as a Christian there are things/people that are put on your heart to pray for. You may not know why but it is a desperate need to pray. I love that about our God. You may not even know the reason but he has you praying earnestly. After Aubrey was born I found myself without my morning prayer time, and I was so out of whack because I hadn't been getting it. My husband so kindly reminded me that it is ok to take that time for myself so that I wouldn't have a nervous break down. But as soon as I started to make that time again for me and God things righted themselves and I couldn't feel better. I have been reading in 1st and 2nd Samuel and have been getting background on David which then shows me such amazing things when reading in Psalms. (I promise that this rambling is coming together). Last Sunday we read in Psalm 46 and it really hit me, the praying that I had been doing and the strength behind it is so powerful even when you don't know it. The 2 things that I took from the psalm is the first verse "God is our refuge and strength, an ever present help in trouble." (which is a verse on my bathroom mirror that I have had for years) and the 10th verse "Be still, and know that I am God". AMEN!!!!!! Be still. Those two words say it all. Listen to God. Know what he is putting on your heart may not make since at the time, but that it is for a reason and is very powerful.
I may not understand all that I read in the bible, but I know that if I am still an explanation when present itself and it will be clear for me. In the old testament there is alot of fighting that goes on, and I never really realized it until now, and that most of the psalms then reflect portions of the fighting. Here in 46 there are images in comparison to a fortress under siege and that God is there within that fortress so it will be protected. In today's time we are the fortress. God inhabits us and when we are under siege you have to remember that. When you are in the midst of a fight where the devil is giving you all he's got remember that no matter what you will be protected. That is such a comforting thought. God is our refuge...an ever present help in trouble.
